A Bouquet of Bounty

The opulence of summer is all around us and we are enjoying the bounty of the season. We would like to ask you to take a moment to make a donation to Ethnic Dance Theatre in our Bouquet of Bounty campaign.

EDT would like to be able to finish our current season and launch our 45th season on August 1st financially strong. We need your donation to be able to do that! Think about which flower you'd like to add to the bouquet and help us reach our goal of $5,000.

This goal is assisted by two long-time EDT donors who have agreed to match each dollar up to $5000 doubling the bounty to $10,000. In the words of these donors:

We are two long-time folk dancers who have been enjoying EDT performances as enthusiastic audience members since early in the group's history and believe in its mission. We appreciate the artistry and dedication of its leadership, dancers, musicians and costume-makers. We have been amazed by the breathtaking energy of their performances, fascinated by the different music and dance styles they present, and dazzled by their stunning costumes.

The Twin Cities has many fine dance groups dedicated to preserving the folk cultures of individual nations, but EDT is unique in showcasing the dance and music of many cultures, taking audiences on an international adventure that crosses many borders. By exploring the diversity of ethnic dance, EDT develops interest in other cultures, fosters a sense of international connectedness, and creates appreciation of the richness and variety of our immigrant heritage and local ethnic communities. Its performances are joyous and fun, but they also open eyes, ears and minds. EDT plays an important role in keeping traditional dance and music alive, and we want to support its continued ability to bring them to new audiences. The local artistic community would be poorer without this vibrant cultural asset.

We are appreciative of the generosity of these EDT patrons and also are gratified that their description of the Ensemble is what the founders, Don and Jon, set out to do 44 years ago. Help us continue their vision.

Update 7/19/2018: Thank you, donors.
